Dark undereye circles form when skin begins to lose tone and elasticity. Loose skin accumulates around the eyes, forming folds in the eyelids, and fat begins to accumulate under the eyes, forming “eyebags.” Fluid can also build up as lymphatic drainage decreases and capillary permeability increases.
